KYOTO ANIMATION DELAYS THEIR UPCOMING ANIME FILM FREE!


Kyoto Animation was swimming past the currents leading up to the release of their upcoming anime film Free!, which was slated to release on July 5, 2020, in Japan. The film was to coincide in celebration with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Summer Games. Today the official website of the anime series revealed that the film would be delayed indefinitely. Halting its planned released date.

The site revealed that the day is for various reasons, but the staff, including the film’s director, are working hard to meet fan’s expectations. Kyoto Animation has also revealed that they are looking forward to everyone seeing the film and enjoying their work when the film is released.

Kyoto Animation has still been reeling in recovery after a terrorist arson attack on the animation studio took place on July 18th. The attack claimed the life of 36 Kyoto Animation employees including character designer and chief animation director of the Free! franchise Futoshi Nishiya, and High Speed! Free! Starting Days director Yasuhiro Takemoto.
