‘Your Name’ Live-Action Film Adaptation Finds It’s Director


Makoto Shinkai’s beloved anime film ‘Your Name’ taps Lee Isaac Chung as its director for its live-action adaptation

Makoto Shinkai’s beloved anime feature film ‘Your Name’ is getting a live-action adaptation with Lee Isaac Chung as its director Deadline has reported. Paramount Pictures, Toho, and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company will team up in order to bring this film to life. Deadline also reports that this live-action film will be a reimagining of the hit anime film which hit Japanese theaters in 2016.

Your Name

In this reimagined version, two teenagers discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. When a disaster threatens to upend their lives, they must journey to meet each other and save their worlds.

The live-action script for ‘Your Name” originally written by Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer. With the current draft for the film being written by Emily V. Gordon.

Director Lee Isaac Chung debut film Munyurangabo premiered at Cannes to great acclaim. Chung’s latest film Minari with Plan B and A24 won the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at Sundance 2020.
