Captain America #30 – All Die Young Conclusion (Review)

Captain America is once again at odds against the Red Skull! Who will come on top this time?

Captain America finds himself battling his greatest foe, the Red Skull. The Man out of Time evades being framed for murder. However, Red Skull and a member of the Power Elite, Alexa Lukin ally together to take him down. Red Skull’s daughter, Sin is recruited in this coup. The goal is for America to have some much that the nation loses itself due to its emotions. Captain America, the Daughters of Liberty, and the Winter Solider work together to stop the Nazi’s sympathizers. They go so far, Sharon even gains brief assistance from Wilson Fisk. Is this enough to help Cap and Co to take down his arch-rival?

We start with Sin talking over the dead body of Alexa, who was gunned down. This occurred while the two were having a conversation. During this flashback, we see Captain America fight Red Skull’s men and Crossbones. The talk ends when Sin realizes that her father needs help. Also, Cap bests Crossbones and interrupts the Red Skull’s dinner. Steve sits on the opposite side of the table, as the henchmen prepare to take him down. Yet, Red Skull sends them off. Cap confronts his rival for supping hate. Red Skull basically tells Cap that he’s annoyed with him not understanding that he is evil. The two go on and on, Steve brings up the holocaust and Red Skull rants.

While reviewing Steve’s life after being frozen, he continues to mock him and his ideals. While this goes on, it is revealed that Cap is secretly tapping what his enemy is saying. He is doing this with the help of Sharon Carter and Dryad. Cap then teleports back to the ship, after Dryad hacks into his rival’s channel. The Red Skull has been exposed.

We then cut to Kingpin playing chest with someone else. This person thanks Fisk for his services. It is also revealed that he had Alexa killed. The heroes then talk about what Red Skull took from them. Despite the bad, they were able to stop the “hate bombs”. They know he is not done and will work on locating him. Sharon then apologizes for working with Fisk, but Steve understands. Sin is then confronted by a loved one of Alexa’s. He attempts to beat Sin but is put in his place. Sin will use her power to ensure Alexa’s job is not in vain. She now goes by “Superior”.

The work between Ta-Nehisi Coates and Leonard Kirk is solid. The two really had Red Skull spitting bars, figuratively of course. That rant from his was mind-blowing and needs a lot more attention. Even Steve and the talk between his allies was memorable too. This shows how much the Red Skull has impacted the life of Captain America. Speaking of impact, the drawings by Matt Milla were awesome! From the only fight to Sin becoming Superior and let us not forget the detail in each character. It was a good read and had good visuals.
