GIANT-SIZED X-MEN RETURNS WITH JONATHAN HICKMAN, JEAN GREY/EMMA FROST & MAGNETO TO KICK OFF SERIES

Marvel Comics and writer Jonathan Hickman will continue their bold direction for the X-Men with new five-issue GIANT-SIZED X-MEN series, returning as one-shots coming next year.

According to a press release from Marvel, Hickman’s vision for mutantkind will be told in a series of adventures and be paired with some of comic industry’s top artists. The standalone stories will spotlight a specific artist as well as specifically spotlight a character.

In February, the first of the five-issue one-shots kicks off with GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: JEAN GREY AND EMMA FROST. Hickman will be pairing with red hot Young Guns artist, Russell Dauterman, as they tackle the fierce and intense relationship/rivalry between Jean Grey and Emma Frost, as they’re forced to team up to save Storm from danger.

Dauterman is no stranger to mutants as he’s provided amazing covers featuring unique takes and fresh character designs that have made him a favorite among X-Men fans. An X-Men fan himself, Dauterman is excited to bring Hickman’s vision to life with his art. Dauterman states “I’m so thrilled to be working on this with Jonathan and Matt, and it’s co-starring my favorite character, Jean Grey!”

In March, Hickman will then team up with legendary artist Ben Oliver when the spotlight turns to the master of magnetism, Magneto! A tormented yet complex character in the X-Men mythology over the years, Magneto has been a champion for mutantkind even through militant means. However, this time around, he has the X-Men at his side and his dream of Krakoa at the forefront. Now, Hickman and Oliver will explore his new role as mutant ambassador, as Magneto must now make dealings with his former sworn enemy— humanity!
