With ‘Pokemon Legends Arceus’ releasing next week on the Nintendo Switch, we take a look at 10 of the most anticipated games releasing this year on the beloved console

Hello and welcome to 2022 gamers! The new year is bringing in some fantastic games that many are excited about. After watching
Nintendo Direct back in the Fall, there are some great titles expected to come out this year such as ‘Pokemon Legends Arceus’ and the sequel to ‘The Breath of the Wild’. These titles range from stunning indie games to AAA games. Here’s a look at some of these games and when they are expected to come out.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Set long ago in the Sinnoh Region, the game takes you on an adventure of the region’s first Pokedex. If you’ve played the Switch remakes of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and you have recently visited this region. This game is in a different style of play than the more mainstream Pokemon games which are more puzzle-like and give the different flavor that is more of an action-adventure game. I just can’t wait to see that beautiful Arcanine up close for myself! ‘Pokemon Legends: Arecus’ comes out for the Nintendo Switch on January 28th, 2022.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

This 3D Kirby adventure is an upcoming platformer and was announced at Nintendo Direct. The game has some open-world elements that add to the adventure of this post-apocalyptic world of a game. Kirby wakes up on an unknown beach and has to
interface with the creatures known as Beast Corps. These beasts have captured many waddle dees in golden cages, which Kirby must save. Help him save the waddle dees! This game is set to come out on March 25, 2022.

Sonic Frontiers

‘Sonic Frontiers’ is the first open-world game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game is published by the Sonic Team and developed by Sega. The game features Sonic exploring the Star Fall Island with a variety of fields, deserts, ruins, and forests at
different levels, as most Sonic games have had. Some are comparing the open-world style of the game to Breath of the Wild (2017). Cross your fingers and hope the Sonic Team can pull off the open world. Could this be the game that brings the Sonic Team back? It was officially announced at The Game Awards, 2021. The release date is at some point in 2022 for both the US and UK, stay tuned!

Now it is going to be available in 2022 for Nintendo Switch users thanks to Epic Games for snatching Fall Guys up.

Mario and Rabbids is a turn-based strategy adventure game from Ubisoft for the Nintendo Switch. This game is a cross-over between beloved franchises Rabbids and Mario. It is a sequel to Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Help Mario restore peace to the world from the dreadful Cursa, and save the Sparks. The game is set to come out later this year. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

This is the next installment of the Lego Star Wars franchise. Delays have put off this game from being released, but it is set to come out in April of this year. The Skywalker Saga is one of Travelers Tale’s biggest projects in their developing history. The game will feature a staggering 45 levels that combine all nine of the core Star Wars movies. There will be a library of playable characters. The game map of the galaxy looks absolutely massive and I can’t wait to explore the overworld.

Splatoon 3

The Ink is back with Splatoon 3! The third-person shooter consists of online multiplayer options alongside a story-driven story mode. The trailers for the games revealed some similar things from the second Splatoon and some new items. Players will be introduced
to their new regions “Splatands” and “Splatsville”. The game will feature new weapons and power-ups. It is coming out this year, get ready inklings!

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3 Nintendo Switch The Nerdy Basement

The witch is back and more powerful than ever! The game returns with an over-the-top action game. The Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and witch abilities. Bayonetta fights in the streets of Tokyo against evil. The battles look exhilarating and you get to challenge the power of demons with new abilities.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel

The untitled sequel to Breath of the Wild was announced at Nintendo Direct 2021 and E3 of last year. The game is probably the most anticipated game of the year out of any platform. The first Breath of the Wild, seemed to lay the open-world style of adventure game, for many of the games coming out this year. The developers say that the game is going to include skies above the Hyrule. There is still so much mystery around this game which even makes fans all around excited for the game. The trailers look promising and I am just looking forward to playing it soon!
