Ben Affleck Returns As Batman For ‘The Flash’ Solo Film

Ben Affleck is suiting up again and reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’ solo film

After months of rumors, theories, fan hope and speculation, Ben Affleck is officially back as the Caped Crusader for the upcoming Flash solo film. The film is set to adapt the iconic comic book storyline ‘Flashpoint’.

Initially reported by Vanity Fair during an interview with Andy Muschietti it was revealed that Ben Affleck would be reprising his role as Batman in The Flash solo film. Ben Affleck had left the role of Batman and the Batman solo film after the release of Justice League’s theatrical cut due to personal issues. Despite those issues fans really wanted Ben Affleck to return as Batman at least one more time, something Ben Affleck has also showed interest in. Wanting to leave the role of Batman in good grace and serve as a segue for his final goodbye to the roll.

After Vanity Fair’s initial report, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez took to Twitter to reveal even more interesting details about Affleck’s return. He went on to mention that talks with Affleck started a couple of months ago. Additionally, Affleck had notes on the script which were addressed in the draft script that was handed to him last week. It wasn’t until this week that he officially decided to join the film.

Ben Affleck who has been maintaining his weight and has slimmed down immensely since he first departed the role of Batman will indeed be suiting up again for the film. Umberto also goes on to reveal that no new films or series will come out of Affleck inclusion in the film. Contrary to the many rumored believes that have been making the rounds on the internet over the past few months. Matt Reeves’ Batman film, starring Robert Pattinson will not be affected by Affleck’s return.

The Flash film will now include two different versions of Batman. Ben Affleck’s rugged Batman and Tim Burton’s Batman will see Michael Keaton reprising the role. It has been speculated that more Batmen will appear in the film but that’s neither been confirmed nor denied. What has been confirmed and newly revealed though, is that Keaton’s Batman will play a significant role in the Flash film, and Affleck’s Batman will serve as Barry Allen’s mentor.

With DC FanDome happening this weekend, I’m sure more details and newer announcements will be made. Including more insight to The Flash film and the roles that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will play.
