Hawkeye Trailer Provides First-Official Look At The Upcoming Series

The highly-anticipated trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” series has finally arrived and with it, we get our first full look at the new series starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. Christmas time is upon us in the “Hawkeye” series as the trailer kicks off with Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton sharing a meal with his children. As Clint Barton watches the news he sees reports of a new Ronin playing vigilante throughout New York.

This is the first time we see anyone else other than Clint Barton take on the mantle of Ronin in the MCU. The trailer revealed through Barton’s voiceover that while he donned the Ronin moniker and terrorized the world during that five-year gap between “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” he made a lot of enemies. We get quick glimpses of this new Ronin taking on the Tracksuit Mafia who are now officially confirmed to appear in the series, and we get the revelation that Kate Bishop is running around New York City as the new Ronin.

Now we don’t quite know why Kate Bishop has donned the Ronin costume or whether she created the Ronin suit herself or if it was gifted to her by someone else. We also don’t know why she’s having a run-in with the Tracksuit Mafia. We’re just going to assume that the Tracksuit Mafia has some unfinished business with Clint Barton and that would be the main reasoning behind him and Kate Bishop’s run-in with the gang.

We get more quick montages of the action that we will see in the series as well as a glimpse of Hailee Steinfeld’s comedic timing as Kate Bishop and some of the trouble she will be causing Clint Barton. The “Hawkeye” trailer also provides our first look at Vera Farmiga as Elanor Bishop, the mother of Kate Bishop and the Steve Rogers musical. We also get our first look at Lucky the Pizza Dog, more of Ronin (probably not Clint) and Clint Barton in a larping scene.

I mention that it’s probably not Clint Barton as Ronin in this scene because as soon as we see Ronin, the trailer then cuts to Clint Barton in civilian clothing dancing in a circle surrounded by larpers. This could very well be our very first look at Maya Lopez as Ronin (she is the first comic book character to don the mantle of Ronin prior to Clint Barton). Speaking of Maya Lopez played by Alaqua Cox, we also get our first look at her in this series in a sort of red room which could be a huge tease to Vincent D’Onofrio’s return as Kingpin.

In the comics, Maya Lopez is the adopted daughter of Kingpin so the “Hawkeye” series could very well play into that. Additionally, a couple of months ago on Twitter, Vincent liked a tweet about his return to the MCU as Kingpin but unliked the tweet once it went viral. Lending even more credence to his return in this series, which the trailer very well plays into. We got to see more of the dynamic between Clint Barton and Kate Bishop and that mentor/mentee relationship as she goes on the road to becoming the new Hawkeye.

Hawkeye Official Synopsis:

Set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
