Invincible Non-Spoiler Review: Three Episodes of Incredible Action!

Robert Kirkman’s Invincible animated debut delivers more than expected!

Hello, Nerdy fans! Simple as this whether you are a fan/read the Invincible comic book run or a new viewer. Invincible on Amazon Prime is the show for you! Following the story of Mark Grayson son to the world’s strongest superhero Omni-Man. The high-schooler gains his super power’s like his father and begins to navigate his way into hero status. A coming of age story that will please much of the adult audience. Keep in mind this is GEARED TO ADULTS! Not suitable for younger audiences, unless your child can handle some violent scenes.

Invincible Review The Nerdy Basement

This medium is the perfect place for this story to be told. There are so many moments in this story that the only animation can bring justice to from the Invincible comic book. And on the subject of the source material, you will not be disappointed. One of the best things about this adaptation is the respect they give to the source material. Not to say that this will be a play-by-play to the comic. Oh no, new and old viewers will be totally surprised by this show. Fans will be able to dissect some of the major moments in the show but not before they catch you off guard with something new.

While the universe is vast the 45 minute run times are a true pleasure. The pacing is so well done and character building is welling in place. You get to really enjoy the plots being developed. If you’re like me the 3 episode premiere will just have you wanting even more lol. The action scenes alone will have you do a retake. I know I rewound plenty of moments to make sure I saw what I saw. Though very violent, these scenes are essential to the weight of the world that is being built around you.

But what really makes the show all the more enticing is the amazing cast. This show brings us some superb talent, like Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Their performances build the story up so much, that as I’m still currently reading the comic book I have now read each of the characters in their voices. To reiterate, this is truly one of the great highlights of the show.

Overall this series is already a 5 Star Nerdified Certified for me. With incredible action sequences, a sense of true consequences from decisions made, and a cast that can move mountains. Invincible is already shaping up to another hit series for Amazon Prime. Go check it out on March 26, 2021, you won’t want to miss it!
