Marvel has officially pulled the plug on two of its four upcoming adult-themed animated Hulu Original shows, Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler. Earlier this week Marvel announced the full cast for their upcoming M.O.D.O.K. animated series which will still see the light of day alongside their other animated project Hit Monkey.

While no real reasoning for the cancellations has been made, we can safely assume that Marvel CCO, Kevin Feige simply did not like the direction these two shows were going in. Ever since his promotion Kevin Feige has been cleaning house on all the shows brought forward by the former head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. Shows like Marvel’s Runaways and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger were both canceled late last year, with Runaways announcing its official end prior to the premiere of its third and final season.

Writer, director Kevin Smith who was attached to the Howard the Duck animated series shared his feelings on Twitter about the unfortunate cancellation. In true Kevin Smith fashion, he takes it like a champ and is optimistic that he and Marvel can work together again in the future.

While Howard The Duck won’t be leading his solo animated series, he is alive and well in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last seen in the third act of Avengers: Endgame during the massive showdown The Avengers and Thanos, we can only hope to see him in a prominent feature in the near future. As for Tigra and Dazzler, with the X-Men eventually coming to the MCU, Kevin Feige could’ve wanted to save these characters for a live-action appearance.
