Moon Knight: Oscar Isaac Cast In Titular Role

From a Galaxy Far, Far Away to the streets of New York, Oscar Isaac is in talk for the role of Moon Knight

Casting news for Moon Knight has been something fans have been anxious to receive. Earlier today, Murphy’s Multiverse revealed that Marvel Studios were showing interest in Daveed Diggs and Nick Kroll for the role of Marc Spector/Moon Knight for their upcoming Disney+ Original Series. Shortly after Deadline broke the news that Oscar Isaac has been officially tapped for the role of Marc Spector aka Moon Knight.

Now this wasn’t in anyway to refute Murphy’s Multiverse original report as the outlet never mentioned Oscar Isaac in their report. The outlet also never outright mentioned that the two aforementioned actors were the front runners for the role. These were simply two actors they heard that Marvel Studios showed interest in.

When it comes to reports like these, when reported by official Hollywood trades like Deadline can be taken as official news. Deadline also reports that the deal with Oscar Isaac has not been finalized as the actor is still currently in talks to portray the perplexed hero. 9 out 10 times when an actor is in talks to play a role they eventually end up playing said character they’re under negotiation for.

Moon Knight

The news has also brought forth a mixed bag of fan reactions. Majority of fans are more than happy that Marvel has cast Oscar Isaac, while other’s have pointed out that the Latino actor is not necessarily of Jewish descent as the character he’s been cast as. While there’s conflicting interviews online where Isaac mentions that he was brought up in a Christian household, he has also mentioned that he is indeed part Jewish and that comes from his father’s side.

Marvel has been keen on shedding light on proper representation in the MCU. That has been evident with the casting of Simu Liu as Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and most recently the casting of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Ms. Marvel Disney+ series. So if Isaac’s casting is anything indication of anything is that to some degree the actor is indeed Jewish and casting him would mean that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are really pushing the envelop in proper representation in popular media.

Moon Knight

At the time of this writing no director(s) have been announced for the series. But now that we have a semi-official casting for Moon Knight himself, we should expect more news to come up in the coming days/weeks leading to the series commencing production.
