REPORT: JARED PADALECKI EYED FOR LEAD IN CBS’ REBOOT OF “WALKER: TEXAS RANGER”

According to Deadline.com, actor Jared Padalecki, who currently plays supernatural monster hunter Sam Winchester in The CW’s appropriately titled Supernatural, may have found a potential new gig!

The actor is been eyed to helm a “Walker: Texas Ranger” reboot as the lead. The original show ran at CBS Network for eight season, from 1993-2001, and starred former action star and martial arts icon, Chuck Norris. Norris played Cordell Walker, a tough, grizzled former U.S. Marine who worked as a Texas Ranger delivering justice to criminals while employing a code of the Old West.

According to reports, CBS has been interested in the development and rebooting the show for a quite some time. Walker: Texas Ranger is a legacy series for CBS and was a highly-rated syndicated hit during its run. In as such, the reboot will go in tune with CBS’ recent turns in relaunching classic series such as Hawaii 5-O (with Alex O’ Laughlin and Scott Caan), MacGyver (with Lucas Till) and Magnum P.I. (with Jay Hernandez) to a new generation of audiences and longtime fans.

With Supernatural officially ending with this upcoming season, Padalecki will most likely be prime and ready to take on the role if casting is confirmed. The actor is young, tall and has a strong fanbase to help carry the show. As a bonus, the actor is a bonafide Texas native, alongside his wife Genevieve and their three children. Therefore, he’ll be more at home as opposed to traveling and residing back and forth to Vancouver to film his hit CW show.

No word yet if Norris will somehow be involved in the planned reboot. Expect official casting confirmation in the days to come.
