Shadow and Bone Season 2 The Nerdy Basement

‘Shadow and Bone’ Officially Renewed For A Second Season During Netflix’s Geeked Week

For Netflix, it seems like they see the light just as much as fans of the Grishaverse do. Shadow and Bone Season 2 is on its way!

Shadow and Bone has officially been renewed for a second season! Last week was Netflix’s Geeked Week, a time where every day the streaming service would announce either new projects or renewals of old ones. On Monday, the inaugural stream of the week began. Prior to the stream, the official Twitter account for Shadow and Bone tweeted this: Following this call for fans, the comments section filled with tons of sun emojis, which all led up to the stream.

The first announcement made was in regards to the show, and was worth celebration: all of the main cast announced that season 2 of Shadow and Bone was officially confirmed! According to Deadline, Netflix has ordered eight more episodes from the hit series, much like what the first season had. The show was incredibly popular upon its first season releasing; not only did it receive rave reviews online, but it was watched in millions of households, reached Netflix’s top 10 lists in 93 countries, and hit #1 on said lists in 79 of them!

Shadow and Bone clearly has a bright future with Netflix, so the question is, what can fans expect in season 2? There is certainly potential for a lot of stories to be told; if one is going off the timelines of the original books, it can be expected that Siege and Storm, the second book in Alina and Mal’s series, and Six of Crows, the first of the Crows’ story, will be covered.

However, with the way things ended in Season 1, it is possible that there will be more opportunities to connect the characters of both stories together further than what has already been done. There are also several fan-beloved characters that have yet to make their on-screen debut, so how they will be implemented into the new season if at all, will definitely be a sight to see.

Season 1 of Shadow and Bone was an incredibly fun watch, being gorgeous to look at and interpreting the story of both book series it is covering in clever ways.
