Stargirl’s Transition to The CW: What Will Change and Will Not Change in Season 2

Stargirl has officially been renewed for a second season but it comes with some disappointing news, at least according to fans. Stargirl has found a new and permanent home over at The CW but what’s changing?

That’s right, Stargirl is officially a CW exclusive series now that it has been renewed for a second season. Earlier this week news came out that Stargirl was moving over to The CW now that it’s been renewed for a second season exclusively on The CW network, also revealing that the series was not renewed by the DC Universe.

This news sent fans into a frenzy due to fans who at first had very low expectations for the series, now boasting a ton of praise for the show; even going further to say that this is the best live-action DC Universe series next to Doom Patrol which has also become an acclaimed series. To simmer down the rightful concern of fans who are mostly concerned with the series taking a massive dive in quality. The creators behind the series who also hosts the official Stargirl After Show podcast revealed in an Instagram post what is and isn’t changing in the Stargirl series now that it’s moving to The CW.

As revealed in the Instagram post, the only notable change for the series will be who will be funding the series going forward. While DC Universe funded the first season of the series, The CW will now be funding the second season and any season going forward for that matter. As we mentioned in our previous report regarding this news, Stargirl has been performing incredibly well on The CW and it has rightfully earned the series a second season.

The post also emphasizes that the creative team including its writers and producers, especially Geoff Johns will remain on board. They also make it a point to tell fans that the show’s cinematic look will remain the same and will not change due to the series moving to a new network. Something fans were very vocal about on social media when the initial news broke.

While this news might calm some fans down, others are still calling it a bluff. As with everything else in the entertainment industry, time will tell how much of a dive in quality Stargirl will take and whether or not any of the teams behind the series will remain on board. While The CW will now be funding the series, it has not been revealed how much the series will cost The CW or how much the series cost DC Universe. Not like any of that matters but fans are interested in those numbers to make their personal opinions valid.

Stargirl airs every Monday on the DC Universe and airs every Tuesday night at 8pm on The CW.
