AEW: DYNAMITE – RESULTS – (01/01/20)


Here are your results to All-Elite Wrestling’s Homecoming Edition of AEW: Dynamite from 01/01/2020.

Jim Ross and Excalibur welcome us. Legendary wrestler, Taz, will be joining the commentary team for the night, subbing for Tony Schiavone.

Match 1: Cody Rhodes defeats Darby Allin after blocking Allin’s Coffin Drop with knees and rolling him up for the win. Hall Of Famer, Arn Anderson, debuted as Cody’s manager and “head coach.”

Match 2: Fatal Four-way for the AEW Women’s Championship: Riho (c) defeats Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, and Nyla Rose. Riho pinned Baker with a bridging sunset flip.

After the match, Nyla Rose put Riho through a table with a splash off the ropes.

Back from commercial break, and the previously scheduled title match between Riho and Kris Statlander will happen next week.

Segment: Joey Janela‘s backstage interview ends prematurely when Penelope Ford attacked him with a low blow from behind.

Match 3: Jon Moxley defeats Trent Barretta with the Paradigm Shift DDT.

After the match, Sammy Guevara taunted Moxley from the crowd. Then, AEW champion, Chris Jericho, appears on the jumbotron with video to once again offer Moxley a position in the Inner Circle. He offers Moxley 49% of Inner Circle LLC, the position of executive Vice President of the Inner Circle, and a new car with a personalized vanity license plate. Moxley said that out of respect for Jericho, who he’s seen as a mentor and friend sinxe he broke into the business, he’ll give him his answer next week.

Match 4: Sammy Guevara defeats Dustin Rhodes via interference after a low blow from Jake Hager behind the referee’s back.

Segment: MJF comes out with his bodyguard, Wardlow. He proceeds to cut a promo explaining the stipulations for a possible match with Cody Rhodes: (1) It has to happen at AEW Revolution, and if Cody lays a finger on him between now and then the match is off forever, (2) Cody will have to go one-on-one with Wardlow inside a steel cage and defeat him, and (3) Cody will have to get down on all fours and allow MJF to whip him with a belt 10 times.

Next week’s show will be a “Tribute to Legends of Memphis Wrestling.” The Rhodes Brothers will tag against the Lucha Brothers, Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page will face Private Party, and Jon Moxley will give his answer to Chris Jericho.

Match 5: Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks defeat PAC and the Lucha Brothers. Adam Page sat in on commentary and was seen drinking. Omega countered a spinning springboard kick from Fenix with a knee to the face, and followed it up with his One-Winged Angel finisher to win the match.

After the match, Omega and The Bucks celebrated in the ring. Cody joins in on the celebration. Omega and The Bucks call to Page to leave the commentary booth and join them but decided to stay put and continue drinking. The Elite continued to celebrate their win as the show went off the air ▪
