According to a report by Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and former UFC star and current NXT superstar Matt Riddle got into a verbal altercation last night prior to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view going on the air.
The report says that the two wrestlers did not get physical between each other. However, three cited witnesses claim that the altercation was very heated and intense backstage between the two. The report noted that Lesnar and Riddle running into each other backstage was more of Brock asking to know the “reality of the situation” between them.
Riddle has been pretty open in the past about wanting to retire Brock. Even to the point of continuing to talk about a potential match between the two for several years. Riddle’s run-in with Lesnar is similar to his infamous “not your bro” encounter with Bill Goldberg at Summerslam last year. The Goldberg/Riddle confrontation ended up airing on a WWE Network Special later on.
