SURVIVOR SERIES 2019: BROCK LESNAR VS. REY MYSTERIO FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP

The main event for the 2019 Survivor Series pay-per-view edition has officially been set!

WWE Heavyweight Champion, “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar, will be defending his title against none other than the legendary ‘biggest little man in wrestling’, Rey Mysterio — a match in true ‘David vs. Goliath’ fashion.

Mysterio, who has been involved in a major rivalry of sorts with Lesnar, issued the challenge two weeks ago after attacking the champion’s legs with a steel pipe, leaving him injured and barely able to stand.

The rivalry stems from Lesnar’s vicious attack last month of Mysterio’s son, Dominic Mysterio, who was at ringside while his cutting a promo on Monday Night RAW. Lesnar interrupted Mysterio’s promo by proceeding to attack him with multiple F5s. Dominic was at ringside and all he could do was watch as Lesnar decimated his father. Lesnar didn’t stop there: he proceeded to ringside and brutally attacked the youngster, all while laughing and enjoying himself! Lesnar’s manager, mouthpiece and self-appointed advocate, Paul Heyman, pleaded with his client to stop but to no avail. He continued the assault on both men until a swarm of referees and officials had to intervene.

Mysterio could only look in horror as he was writhing in pain and couldnt save nor protect his son. Mysterio vowed vengeance. The following week, sporting a sling, he brought with him back-up in the form of former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, in the premier episode of Smackdown on FOX!

Lesnar looked like he’d seen a ghost! These two men have history. Velasquez defeated, scarred and humbled Lesnar for the UFC title a few years back. Velasquez issued a challenge for WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on October 31st, which Lesnar accepted. Lesnar defeated Velasquez in the event, but after the match, Mysterio attacked Lesnar with multiple chair shots, which angered him even further as he wasnt able to celebrate his win.

Last week, Lesnar wanted payback and gave a stern warning via his advocate, that he was coming to RAW to hunt down Mysterio. After attacking several backstage personnel and even color commentator, Dio Madden, Lesnar called out Mysterio, which led to Mysterio attacking Lesnar with a steel pipe, this injuring his knees.

Neither WWE, Lesnar nor Heyman have spoken or acknowledged the extent of the injury from the attack.
The two men have squared before, with Lesnar coming out on top and overpowering the smaller Mysterio. With the champion seemingly injured and not at a 100%, will the masked superstar be able to level the field, bring the fight to Lesnar and get retribution by walking away with the championship?

Survivor Series 2019 airs live, November 24th, on the WWE Network and on pay-per-view ▪
